Cantu’s game-winning RBI breaks three-game skid for Lady Badgers

Alycia Cantu drove in Autumn Beisel-Macomber for the game-winning run with one out in the seventh inning as Lampasas got past Brownwood 5-4 in varsity district softball. Cantu was 3-3 at the plate, with three runs batted in and a walk. She leads the team with a .493 batting average and a .521 on-base percentage.

Badgers earn area gold in three events

Lampasas placed third as a team, and athletes in several events won top medals at the area track meet in Mineral Wells on Wednesday. Long jumper Cade White, the Badgers’ 4x100-meter relay team and 400-meter runner Cody Hinson won gold.

LMS boys shut out Ducks in soccer

The Lampasas Middle School Badgers walked away with a 2-0 win Monday night over the Taylor Ducks. The match started off slowly, coach Edward Gold said, adding that goalkeeper Michael Clayton was “able to keep a clean sheet with an outstanding first half.” In the second half, the Badgers started to find their rhythm, the coach said.

Lometa brings home District 17-1A tennis title

The Lometa Hornets won the boys’ tennis district championship as a team on Monday and Tuesday in Brady. The Lady Hornets were second in their division. Four Lometa players qualified for the regional meet, which is April 26 in Whitney.
