Former Lady Badger accepts volleyball position at alma mater

McCarter places at nationals; next come Olympic Trials

Steffin McCarter took fifth in long jump at the NCAA outdoor nationals in his last track meet as a Texas Longhorn. McCarter also ran on the 4x100-meter relay, which advanced to the finals with a seventh-place finish in the semifinals on Wednesday.

Parker, Turner medal in golf at Brownwood

LeeAnn Parker won the Girls 15-18 Division of a West Texas Junior Championship Tour event at Brownwood Country Club on Tuesday. Parker, a 2021 LHS graduate and an Angelo State University singee, won with a score of 82.

Lampasas girls split wins on Day 1 of home league; Second Team wins twice

Lampasas’ First Team went 1-1 in Hill Country Hoops girls’ basketball on Monday. The Lady Badgers, coached by Falyn Myers, lost to Goldthwaite 54-40 but beat Priddy 51-16. Lampasas’ Second Team beat Priddy 29-15 and got past Marble Falls Faith Academy 36-33. The Lampasas Third Team beat Goldthwaite’s Second Team 45-25 but fell against Burnet, 44-21.

Boys’ basketball camp scheduled near end of this month

Lampasas High School will host boys’ basketball camp for several ages June 28-30 at the LHS gym. Incoming second- through sixth-graders will meet from 8-10:30 a.m. each day. Incoming seventh- through ninth-grade players will meet from 1-3:30 p.m. each day.

Short-staffed Badgers go 1-1 in Hamilton

Lampasas competed with six players on Monday in the Hamilton league. Tak Stinnett, Cort Howard, Luke Shivers, Quinn Pace, Austin Wilson and Tate Rainwater teamed up to beat Dublin 54-47, and they lost to Comanche, 61-54.

Former Badger places fifth at NCAA nationals
