A rocky opening quarter turned into a dominant performance by the Badgers as they have started on the right foot in district play, picking up a 70-20 win over the Taylor Ducks Friday on Badger Field. The game turned in Lampasas’ favor when the first quarter ended, and the second quarter began.

The Lometa Hornets lost their hopes for an undefeated season on Friday after falling to the Abbott Panthers, 58-12. The Hornets are 5-1 with three games left on the schedule, all of them district games that will determine their fate this season.

The Lady Badgers golf team came away with first place in the tournament held last Friday and Saturday in Lampasas and Burnet. The Lampasas girls finished with a two-day score of 710 – 22 strokes better than the secondplace team, the Belton Lady Tigers.

The Lampasas tennis squad traveled to Harker Heights to play in a practice match against the 6A Knights before heading to Cleburne for a firstround playoff matchup today against Decatur. Harker Heights took the match 13-6.

The Lady Badgers swept the Waco University Lady Trojans in a volleyball match between their district schedule to gain momentum for the final four games of the season. The final score was 25-17, 25-17, 25-20.

The Badgers are just hours away from the most important part of their schedule, as the Taylor Ducks will roll into town for the first district game of the year. Lampasas is coming off a relatively subpar record during non-district action, finishing 2-3 with wins over Elgin and Gatesville.

One Badger and one Lady Badger on the cross country team each finished fourth in their respective individual races during the home meet last week. Both Abby Valdez and Tate Rainwater finished fourth in their respective races.

The Lady Badgers came up short in their fourth district game, playing at Stephenville on Tuesday. Lampasas has now fallen to 0-4 in district action.

The Lampasas tennis team came up just short of a perfect district run, losing to Gatesville on Monday by an overall score of 5-14. The match concluded Monday, after the scheduled games last week were delayed due to rain storms in the area.
