It is time for the annual A.C. January Memorial Day Golf Tournament at Hancock Park Golf Course in Lampasas.

The Lady Badger softball team had a successful 2022 season that included finishing second in district, winning a bidistrict championship and advancing to the area round of the playoffs. Last Tuesday night, the players, coaches, parents and others got to celebrate that season, and the players were recognized with various awards.

The Lampasas Middle School boys’ soccer team faced Salado in its first match of the day in the district tournament last week. “Salado put the pressure on early, but with Jaden McElwain back in the mix and Sean Smith in the goal, our defense was able to shut down all the early opportunities,” LMS head coach Edward Gold said.

The inaugural KM two-man scramble will be held June 17, and proceeds will go toward school supplies for students entering the Lampasas Independent School District for the 2022-2023 school year. The golf tournament was organized by Murray Events Inc., a nonprofit organization established by Kenny Murray of Lampasas.

The Badger athletics program has several camps coming up in different sports over the next few weeks. To start out, a baseball and softball camp will be offered from May 23-25 for first- through ninth-graders at the high school fields.

Two more Lampasas students are headed to the state rodeo finals over the next couple of weeks. Katy Ann Turner will compete in Abilene June 5-11 during the Texas High School Rodeo State Finals, and Janie Turner will be in Gonzales May 22-28 for the Junior High School Rodeo State Finals.

Sierra Tower has been dominant in discus all year. The Lady Hornet’s efforts took her all the way to the state track meet in Austin, where she finished as a top five 1A discus thrower.

Congratulations: Shaylee Wolfe finished 16th in the state golf tournament in Kingsland on Monday and Tuesday. Congratulations on a successful season.

A Lady Badger finished as the 16th best 4A golfer in the state of Texas after two days of competition in Kingsland this week. Senior Shaylee Wolfe shot 82 on Monday and 83 on Tuesday for a total score of 165 for the tournament.
