Cooking oil from a local food manufacturing plant came through a sewer manhole early Thursday morning, spilling onto South Hackberry Street.
The quantity of oil was not immediately known, Lampasas City Manager Finley deGraffenried told the Lampasas Dispatch Record.

The Lampasas High School Class of 1963 will hold its 55-year reunion Sept. 15 from noon to 5 p.m. at My Girls/Yumm Again, 415 E. Third St. in Lampasas.
Dress is casual. BYOB is allowed.

The Lampasas JV boys placed second in the Hewitt Midway Invitational cross country meet on Thursday. The Lady Badgers were seventh in the JV girls' division.

The Lampasas Middle School girls placed second in the seventh-grade division of the Llano cross country meet. 
“The rain didn’t let up much at all, making the trails extremely muddy, and puddles too many to count,” coach Marisa Skiles said.

Cameron Everts scored the first four touchdowns in the Badgers' 42-7 varsity football victory over Lago Vista on Sept. 7. 

Ace Whitehead tossed four touchdown passes -- three to Everts and one to Jaylon Porter. Everts and Jack Jerome each had one rushing touchdown. 

Lampasas VFW Post 8539 will host a Sunday Funday event this weekend.

The family-friendly event will begin Sunday at noon and includes a live auction, door prizes, a winner-takes-all pool tournament and live music by Courtney & Charly.

With the opening of the new school year, avid cyclists and law enforcement officials urge students to practice safe cycling habits on Lampasas roadways.
