Reptile Day rescheduled

Body
The Lampasas Public Library has rescheduled Reptile Day after a cancellation of the special event in June. The library will play host to slithery and scaly critters during a rescheduled visit from Tim Cole of Austin Reptile Service on July 12 from 10-11 a.m.

clarion university of pennsylvania Madison LaFrance of Kempner graduated with a master’s in education: early-childhood concentration during May commencement ceremonies at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. Howard Payne University Howard Payne University in Brownwood recently held Commencement Exercises, conferring degrees on 144 graduates.

Lampasas FFA representatives lead Alaskan ag camp

Lampasas High School graduate Dawson Raub and retired ag science instructor/FFA adviser Dr. Steven “Doc” Forsythe traversed the Chino Lakes waterways in the Alaskan wilderness by canoe in June to identify and locate elodia, an invasive species of weed. Colorado River Cattlewomen donate to Ronald McDonald House

The Colorado River Cattlewomen recently delivered a beef brisket and beef hot dog meal with all the trimmings to the Ronald McDonald House in Temple. The Ronald McDonald House accommodates eligible out-of-town families at no cost while their child is being treated at Temple-area medical facilities.

Go Texan scholarship winners announced

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo officials have announced the 493 students who received a scholarship from the organization’s education program. This includes Area Go Texan, exhibitor, military and other specialized scholarship awards that are offered under the HLSR umbrella.

PEC awards grants to local nonprofits

Pedernales Electric Cooperative has awarded more than $35,000 in community grants to eight nonprofits in the cooperative’s service territory. Every spring and fall, PEC offers up to $5,000 in grants to eligible nonprofit organizations to fund projects in the surrounding communities.
