In a drive for expansion, the Lampasas County Historical Commission is seeking new members. The requirements are residency in the county and to attend as many meetings as possible, ideally seven out of 10 a year.

Three contestants will vie this year for the Miss Diamondback Jubilee Rodeo Queen title, with three younger girls entered to compete for the Miss Diamondback Jubilee Rodeo Princess designation. The contestants all are judged on interview, horsemanship skills and ticket sales.

Mesa Hammond, the 8-year-old daughter of Sean and Natalie Hammond, is so excited for the opportunity to compete for the Little Miss Diamondback Jubilee Rodeo Princess! She is an avid barrel racer and competes every weekend, following in her mom’s footsteps. She has a horse named Loki, and she rides and cares for her every day, rain or shine.

Eight Lampasas-area first responders were recognized in an annual Hill Country 100 awards ceremony on March 2. The Hill Country 100 Club is an allvolunteer organization that supports first-responder families with financial aid during times of crisis.
