State observes Texas Independence Day

This week marks the 185 anniversaries of two key dates. Texas Independence Day – which commemorates the signing of Texas’ declaration of independence from Mexico in 1836 – was Tuesday. The anniversary of the fall of the Alamo will be Saturday.

Disc golf course open to public

Located behind New Covenant Church, at the back of the west-side entrance at 1604 Central Texas Expy., the church’s new disc golf course has opened to the public. The sprawling, ninehole course is spread out to encourage a leisurely walk from hole to hole with friends, colleagues or family members, while still tucked away from the bustle of the highway on 15 acres behind the church building.

Brenda Smith and Doug Smith of Lampasas proudly announce the graduation of their daughter, Stephanie K. Baumann from the University of Houston-Victoria on December 12,2020. Stephanie received her Master of Education in Administration and Supervision with an emphasis on the Principalship. She graduated with a 4.0 after attending a one year program with the University.

Tax-Aide help available on Tuesdays by appointment

Tax Aide-certified volunteers will be available this year to help individuals with their income tax preparation. This free service is offered at the Lampasas Senior Center, 901 S. Live Oak, each week from Feb. 2 through April 13.
