Although one legislative bill failed to get a floor vote last week, an area state representative is hopeful its companion bill will pass. House Bill 125, a bill to expand state reimbursement for lost property tax revenue due to the 100% disabled veterans property tax exemption, didn’t meet its midnight deadline on May 13.

During its meeting May 10, the Lometa Independent School District Board of Trustees approved a contract for Amanda Morris, assistant principal. The board also approved a contract for Jeffrey Rankin, a secondary-level science teacher.

Four Lampasas High School seniors signed up to join the United States military on Monday. Adam Arthurs, Christian Carrasco, James Hogan and Raelean Sutton had a collective signing event in the high school gym with family, friends and faculty members in attendance.
