The loss of power, water and closure of many stores added to the challenges presented by last week’s near-zero-degree winter blast.
Some areas of town maintained power most of the week, which several citizens say is because their homes are on the same electric grid as the hospital. For others, the severe cold and lack of power posed a serious risk.
