The Third Street railroad crossing will be closed until further notice.

Lampasas police said the crossing is “not safe to cross at this time and may cause damage to vehicles and/or could cause a vehicle to become stuck on the tracks.”

The road will remain barricaded until officials determine the crossing is safe to cross.

“It is a violation of law to disobey the instructions, signals, warnings, markings or markings of a warning sign; or drive around a barricade in a construction/maintenance area,” said Lampasas Police Chief Sammy Bailey.

She added the closure is a safety precaution due to rehabilitation work around the crossing in conjunction with wet ground due to recent rainfall.
