UPDATE: The National Weather Service has upgraded the outlook to a severe thunderstorm warning, effective 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday. First responders located at U.S. Highway 281 at the Farm to Market Road 581 intersection reported "high winds and dangerous lightening" at 10:41 a.m.
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the Lampasas area until 1 p.m. Wednesday.
National Weather Service meteorologists predicted hazardous weather in the Hill Country region, including possible “damaging winds, large hail and heavy rainfall along with localized flooding,” the outlook read. “A tornado or two cannot be ruled out.”
Storms are forecast to affect locations generally west of the Interstate 35 corridor this morning and the remainder of the region this afternoon and early evening, NWS meteorologists said.
