Sarah Northington Fox died Sept. 13, 2018 in San Antonio.

Graveside funeral service will be Sept. 27 at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas. Sneed Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.

Sarah was born Feb. 25, 1936 in Lampasas to Rucker Lee Northington and Elizabeth (Bailey) Northington. She was raised in Lampasas.

She attended The University of Texas at Austin, where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority.

She had a distinguished career in the teaching profession. She taught in the North East ISD in San Antonio, where she created a program for pregnant girls and new mothers -- teaching child care and nurture, while doing what she could to keep the students in school until graduation.

Sarah got her master’s degree at Texas State University and later her doctorate at Texas A&M University. She taught at Trinity University, University of the Incarnate Word and University of Texas-San Antonio, where she created a program for adults interested in a second career in teaching.

She was an active member of Hospice of San Antonio and Alamo Heights United Methodist Church, where she was a teaching leader in Stephen Ministries.

She is survived by her two children, Bradley and Elisabeth; five grandchildren, Brooke Fox, Brogan Fox, Austin Ellis, Victoria Fox and Dallas Richards; sister Betty Millican; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister Dell Berry.
