County's veterans service officer available to guide people through enrollment process

As the Dec. 10 open enrollment deadline approaches for the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program, military retirees or their family members who seek dental coverage are urged to do so online.

Because of high demand on call centers, military retirees or their family members are advised to enroll at, said Lampasas County Veterans Service Officer Matthew Reed. The website allows users to see if they are eligible for coverage, compare plans or change an existing FEDVIP plan.

Those who need help navigating the website may meet with Reed on Fridays from 9-11 a.m. in the Lampasas County Office Building, 409 S. Pecan St., Room 212. Reed said he will be available at other times on Fridays by appointment. To schedule a time to meet, call Reed at 254-319-2294.

To complete the enrollment process for FEDVIP dental insurance, a person will need identification and the primary care provider's information, Reed said.

Those who opt to enroll by phone may call the Benefeds toll-free number, 877-888-3337. To reduce waiting time, people are advised to call on a day other than a Monday.
