Mary Kay Briggs of Lampasas died May 31, 2020 at home. She was 81.

A graveside funeral will be held June 6 at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery. Sneed Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.

Kay was the daughter of D.T. and Carmen Smith Briggs.

She received a Bachelor of Arts in library science from North Texas State College (now University of North Texas) in 1961.

A Civil Service employee, she was in charge of libraries on military installations. She served in Texas, the Canal Zone, Pakistan, California, South Korea, Hawaii and Japan. Kay retired after 36 years of service.

She loved a good story, a friendly chat, moments of solitude, and time spent with family and friends. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lampasas.

Kay is survived by her brother, Todd Briggs and wife Nona Jane; nieces Kim Munn and Barbara Briggs; great-nephews Michael Munn and wife Amanda, and Evan Munn and wife Anna; great-niece, Meredith Munn; and by several cousins.

Memorials may be given to the Lampasas Public Library, Lampasas County Museum or First United Methodist Church of Lampasas.
