Erma Jean Sutton, 85, of Lampasas died April 21, 2018 at Lampasas Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral service will be April 25 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Lampasas. Burial will be private.
Visitation is April 24 from 5-7 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel.
Mrs. Sutton was born Nov. 7, 1932 in Mills County, Texas (Regency Community) to Ernest K. Wood and Nina D. (Kight) Wood. She grew up one of 10 children on a farm.
She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1956 with a bachelor’s degree.
She married Bob Sutton in 1982 and was a housewife.
Mrs. Sutton was a member of First Baptist Church. She also was a member of the Ladies Golf Association, the Bridge Club and volunteered at Rollins Brook Community Hospital for 25 years.
She was instrumental in starting Lampasas Mission.
Mrs. Sutton and her husband had played golf in 21 states and six foreign countries.
She is survived by her husband; children, Tom Sutton, Phil Sutton, Susan Sutton and Fairlyn Henry; a sister, Anna Belle Eggar; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sons Bart Henry and Dirk Henry, and by eight siblings.
