Loretta Jean (Wilson) Pickett, 81, of Lometa died July 17, 2018 at her home.

A memorial gathering will be held July 28 at noon at Lometa Regional Park.

Her body will be cremated. Sneed Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Pickett was born Dec. 29, 1936 in Fort Worth to Ezra Eugene Wilson and Lorraine (Sembera) Wilson. She grew up in Fort Worth and graduated from high school there.

She married Guin Dee Pickett on June 21, 1954 in Gainesville, Texas.

In 1971, the family moved to Georgetown, where she began working for the Williamson County Sheriff’s Department as a dispatcher. She advanced and became a deputy. Loretta served in the sheriff’s department for about 20 years.

She then began working as a correctional officer at the San Saba facility. She and her husband moved to Lometa in 1994.

Mrs. Pickett was an artist who enjoyed painting. She also was a seamstress. She was raised a Baptist.

She is survived by her daughters, Patti Pickett and Jami Glosson; six grandchildren, Ryan Glosson, Heather Davidson, Travis Pickett, LinDee Rinehart, Kaylee Pickett and Jakob Pickett; and six great-grandchildren, Clete Rinehart, Mikayala Glosson, Alex Glosson, Liam Handley, Summer Rinehart and Roadie Rinehart.

She was preceded in death by her husband and by her son, Charles Pickett.
