Carolyn June Badger Dean, 96, of Lometa died on Oct. 11, 2020 at her residence.
A graveside service was held Oct. 18 at Center Cemetery in Lometa. Sneed Funeral Chapel had charge of arrangements. Carolyn was born to
Carolyn was born to Bonner and Maggie Badger on Jan. 10, 1924, at the Badger home place on Sims Creek. She grew up in Lometa and graduated from Lometa High School.
She married Troy "Bunt" Dean on Jan. 9, 1943, and they settled in Lometa.
Carolyn worked at Murphy's Store for approximately 30 years and after Bunt's death in 1981, she worked five years as a secretary for the city of Lometa.
Carolyn was a member of Lometa Church of Christ. She was a very independent person: she mowed her own yard (one acre), walked two miles a day and still drove to Lampasas to buy groceries every Friday until she broke her hip over two years ago. She was called "Mimi" by her family and many others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bunt Dean; son, Michael Troy Dean; sisters, Cora Bell Ferguson, Wanda Whitley, Lorene Underwood, Merle Davis and Laverne Maxwell; and granddaughter, Kim (Dean) Stockman.
Survivors include one sister, Jean Chapman of Austin; daughter-in-law, Nancy Dean of Lampasas; three grandchildren, Chris Dean of Lampasas, Joely Palmer of Lampasas and Ricky (Carol) Dean of Brenham; seven greatgrandchildren, Ashley Stockman, Brayden Dean, Makenzie Dean, Nicholas (Torie) Palmer, Jaci Palmer, Kendall Dean and Karleigh Dean; a greatgreat-grandchild, Hazel Kate Palmer; and many nieces and nephews.
