Nellie Mae Cook Baker died Sept. 28, 2018 at Scott & White Medical Center in Temple. She was 96.

Graveside funeral service will be Oct. 3 at 11 a.m. at Kempner Cemetery. Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas has charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Baker was born Aug. 13, 1922 in Kempner, where she was raised by parents Frank and Texie (Grizzle) Cook. She lived most of her life in Lampasas County and later in Burnet.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lampasas and a life member of VFW Auxiliary. She worked as a nurse’s aide for a number of years.

Mrs. Baker is survived by her children, Jay Meyer, Priscilla Luetkenhoelter and husband Wayne, Loretta Collins and husband John, and Olivia Meyer; nieces, Hedy Heugatter and Carolyn Franks; grandchildren, Michelle Meyer, Samantha Sparks, John Melancon, Danny Brown and Tamara Hamm (Scott); nine greatgrandchildren; and 11 greatgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Baker, two sisters, a grandson and a great-grandson.
