Melvin Ewell Wiley, 74, of Lampasas died June 16, 2018 at his home.

Funeral service will be June 20 at 10 a.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Smith School Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be June 19 from 6-8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Wiley was born Dec. 3, 1943 in Georgetown, Texas to Robert Ewell Wiley and Louise (Fowler) Wiley.

After high school graduation he served in the U.S. Army.

Melvin was married to Janie (Carlile) Wiley, and she preceded him in death in 1990.

He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone, having worked in the area for many years. Melvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and being with family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Travis Wiley and wife Jennifer; two grandchildren, Britanny Nuckles and Jared Nuckles; two brothers, Bill Wiley and wife Jackie, and Larry Wiley; and a sister, Lynda Maedgen and husband Mike.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Christy Nuckles; and brothers, Mike Wiley, Jerry Wiley and Randy Wiley.
