Robert Wayne “Bob” Simmerman Sr., 92, of Evant died Nov. 29, 2018 at his home.
Funeral service was held Dec. 1 at Langford Cove Cemetery in Evant. Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas had charge of arrangements.
Bob was born Jan. 1, 1926 in Anna, Illinois, the son of Ray Simmerman and Flo (Shepard) Simmerman.
Bob joined the Navy and served during World War II. Later he joined the Air Force and retired as a technical sergeant. He also fought in war efforts in Korea and Vietnam.
He had worked afterward as a grave digger and school bus driver and transportation director for Evant ISD.
Bob and his wife Betty had been married 48 years. He was proud of his service to his country, his family and his work.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jones Simmerman of Evant; three sons, Robert Wayne Simmerman Jr. and wife Tammy of Evant, Andrew Joseph Simmerman and wife Brandi of Gatesville, and Steven Simmerman; daughter, Sherry Johnson and husband Louis of San Leon, Texas; grandchildren, Chanda Simmerman, Nikota Webster, Sierra Stegemoller, Tristan Durant, Chelsea Simmerman, Micayla Simmerman, Louis Johnson II, Alan Johnson, Tiffany Sanchez, Kendra Bushong, P J Jackson and Troy Jackson; several greatgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by brothers, Gene, Barney, Lester and Frank; and by a daughter, Leslie Simmerman.
