Jackie Dwain Reynolds, 64, of Lampasas died June 23, 2020 at Lily Springs Rehab and Healthcare Center.
Graveside funeral will be June 26 at 2 p.m. at Smith Cemetery at Kempner. Visitation is at 1:30 at the cemetery. Sneed Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.
Jackie was born Dec. 5, 1955 in Lampasas to James Jackson Reynolds and Sable (Vann) Reynolds. He grew up here and graduated from high school here.
Jackie was a truck driver by profession yet walked down many paths during his life. He joined the Lampasas Volunteer Fire Department right out of high school and stayed an active member for more than 20 years.
He then discovered his passion as a truck driver and did that for many years for Wieser Mills, Design Foods, Agro Tech, Porter Construction, Lampasas Ice and the city of Lampasas.
His alter ego was “Disco Jack, the traveling DJ.” He played for private parties, weddings, VFW gatherings and the Lampasas Singles Club.
Jackie was a collector. He collected mostly unloved, rejected “stuff” that nobody knew they needed. He would come home with unusual “treasures” that he gathered as he visited around the neighborhood. He would regift them on many occasions or stack them in Mom’s backyard, little house or greenhouse for safekeeping.
He also had a sweet tooth. One could find goodies scattered across Mamaw’s bar, compliments of Jackie’s shopping addiction. He always had gum, Tic Tacs, Little Debbies and fireballs for all to enjoy.
He is survived by his mother, Sable Reynolds; sisters Janice Garner (Eddie) and Susan Millican (David); brother, Robert Groves (Darla); nieces and nephews Tracy Taylor, Tonya Phillips, J. Craig Groves, Brent Groves, Wayne Groves, Courtney Groves, Amy Kirkpatrick, Jason Garner, Tyler Garner, Lacy Garner, Vann Millican and Bailey Millican; and an uncle, Robert D. Vann.
Jackie was preceded in death by his father; brother J.D. Groves; and by grandparents Doug and Mammie Vann, and A.H. and Hattie Reynolds.
