Mike Medina, a longtime Lampasas resident, died Jan. 23, 2019. He was 100.

Rosary will be recited Jan. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, and funeral Mass is Jan. 26 at 10 a.m., also at St. Mary’s. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Sneed Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.

Mr. Medina was born May 8, 1918 in Evant and lived most of his life in Lampasas. He was a truck driver for over 30 years.

It was through his support and encouragement that his wife, Margaret, founded Margaret’s Café – the first Mexican restaurant in Lampasas County. It flourished for over 48 years, and the legacy was turned over to his son Frank Medina and wife Sherry.

A parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church, Mike and his wife led La Cursada Del Rosary, a rosary prayer group, for over 28 years and were recognized by then Bishop Flores for their dedication to the church.

Mr. Medina was preceded in death by his wife; two brothers, Domingo and Jose; a sister, Gregoria Ortega; a daughter, Margarite Duarte; son Frank Medina; and two grandsons, Michael Medina and Ed Dimas.

He is survived by four daughters, Sally Dimas and husband Lupe, Emily Young, Dolores Medina, and Vicky Franco and husband Carlos; son, Raymond Medina and wife Leticia; 16 grandchildren; 26 greatgrandchildren; and 16 greatgreat-grandchildren.
