Nolan Machen, 95, of Lampasas died on Dec. 21, 2018.
Funeral services will be held at First Street Church of Christ at 2 p.m. on Dec. 27, followed by a brief graveside service at Nix Cemetery.
Nolan lived in Lampasas his entire life, except for the years he proudly served in World War II in the Army Air Corps – now called the U.S. Air Force.
Nolan retired from the Texas Highway Department Resident Engineer’s Office after 42 years of service. He supervised the construction of many highways and bridges in Lampasas and surrounding counties. After his retirement, he supervised construction of a number of area airports.
Nolan enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles, woodworking, gardening, masonry, caring for his pecan trees, fishing and, most of all, family gatherings.
Nolan is survived by his daughter, Lori Paulson (Jerry); daughter-in-law, Janet Machen; as well as seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Eva Jo; and by two sons, Neil Machen and Nelson Machen.
Memorial donations may be made to the Nix Community Center or to the charity of one’s choice.
