On March 1, 2019, James “Jimmy” Lyle died at age 72.
Visitation will be at Sneed Funeral Chapel on March 14 at 5 p.m., with the service to follow at 6 p.m. Brother Gary Edmonds will officiate.
Jimmy was born in Blanco on Jan. 4, 1947 to Leland and Effie Lyle, and spent all of his formative years in Dripping Springs.
He taught real estate courses in Austin and worked for years in the banking and real estate industry. He met his wife, Marcella Ray, in Austin, and they married in Brady.
Jimmy was living in Kempner and working with the Copperas Cove Independent School District at the time of his death.
He leaves behind his wife, Marcella; daughter, Marjorie (who always called him “Waldo”); son, James Lyle Jr.; brother, Pat (Cheryl); sister, Gladys Andrus; as well as nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Jimmy was preceded in death by a brother, R.L. and by a son, Scott.
He was an avid animal lover and spent years traveling around Texas assisting with senior dog rescue. He also loved fishing, Sunday drives, Chihuahuas, children, gospel music and serving his Lord. He was instrumental in starting a children’s ministry at a local church.
