David Michael Landis, 54, of Lampasas died May 23, 2019.
Viewing will be May 29 from 5-7 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel.
Burial will take place May 30 at 10 a.m. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. A service to celebrate his life will be held that afternoon at 1 p.m. at Community Church in Lampasas.
David was born in Renton, Washington on May 29, 1964 to Dan and Phoenix Landis.
He participated in Indian Guides, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Later, David served with the U.S. Army Chemical Corps and then with the Lampasas County Sheriff’s Department, where he was given the name “Deputy Dave.”
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Elaine Landis, of Lampasas; children Kenneth Landis (Adam Penney) and mother Andrea, Kayla Landis, Kyle Landis (Emily), Jason Halbrook and Kenneth Cooke, all of Lampasas; siblings Bradley Landis (Maria) of Seattle, Washington, Deana Weyant (Rick) of Carnation, Washington and Dunyele Mason of Port Angeles, Washington; and grandchildren Alyssa, Jaydon and Joshua, all of Lampasas.
Memorials may be given to Folds of Honor for scholarships to children of fallen warriors.
