Juan Juarez Sr., also known as JJ, died May 15, 2019.

Burial will be May 18 at 1 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park in San Antonio, beside his wife. Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas has charge of arrangements.

JJ was born in Houston on Nov. 24, 1930 to Regino and Soledad Juarez.

He was a master electrician by trade and owned Juarez Electric Co. in San Antonio for nearly 40 years.

He loved his country, praised the Lord, spoke out against injustice and encouraged young people to advance their education.

JJ loved to discuss politics and felt that people could find common ground that would unite rather than divide.

JJ requested a simple burial and that in his memory a gesture of kindness and generosity be shown to those in need.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Frances.

He is survived by his son, Dr. John Juarez Jr. and wife, Deanna; grandson, Gunnery Sgt. Jason Juarez, United States Marine Corps; granddaughter, Jennifer Juarez, RN; and several nieces and nephews.
