Joseph L. “Joe” Jones, 79, of Lampasas died Nov. 2, 2018 at his home.
Graveside funeral service will be Nov. 6 at noon at Langford Cemetery near Evant. Sneed Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.
Joe was born Nov. 20, 1938 in Mt. Hope, West Virginia, the son of Everett Jones and Maxine (Stewart) Jones.
He loved God, his family, his music and work. He served in the United States Marine Corps. He owned and operated Christine’s Used Cars in Copperas Cove for years.
Joe married Christine Kinsey on Oct. 6, 1970.
He belonged to 5 Hills Cowboy Church in Kempner, where he played the guitar and sang in the band. He also sang and played at other area churches until his health declined.
Joe loved holidays and family get-togethers, singing and music. He had a family of musicians who followed in his footsteps.
Joe is survived by his wife; five sons, Joey Jones (Amy) of Lampasas, Stanley Jones of Big Spring, Wayne Kolb of Abilene, Steven Joseph Jones (Tina) of Columbus, Ohio and Charles Everett Jones (Missy) of Vienna, West Virginia; two daughters, Tracey Lawrence of Gatesville and Michelle Blocker (Thomas) of Cleburne; 20 grandchildren; 24 greatgrandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Buddy Jones; a nephew, Denver Sneed; and two grandsons, John Joseph Blocker and Micah Kosa.
