David Osborne Bryant, 76, of Lampasas died March 14, 2018 at his home.

Funeral service will be March 24 at 2 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Bryant was born June 7, 1941 in Lampasas, the son of Lawrence Bryant Sr. and Gussie Lee (Hughes). He grew up in Waco.

At age 12 he got sick and had to stay in a Tyler hospital for about two years.

At 14, the family moved back to Lampasas, where David graduated from high school and attended trade school. He was a heavy equipment operator for many years.

Later in life he became state ombudsman for local nursing homes. He was a member of the Democratic Party and the Old Farts Club in Copperas Cove. He liked to cook, watch horse racing and fish. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Mr. Bryant is survived by a daughter, LaTonya Bryant; two sons, David Bryant Jr. and Vincent Bryant; brothers, Lawrence Bryant Jr., Drake Bryant, Wilbur Bryant, Vernon Bland, Lindell Betts and Johnny Bland; sisters, Diana Brown Bryant, Arnetta Bagby Bryant, Patsy Bland and Linda Young; grandchildren, Devin, Damion, Laylah and Brooklyn; and Patricia Oldham and her children Chris and Angela.

He was preceded in death by his nephew, Leslie Bagby.
