Clarence David Barbour, 89, of Providence, North Carolina and formerly of Lampasas, died on June 2, 2019 in Danville, Virginia.

He was born April 13, 1930, in Caswell County, North Carolina to William Henry Barbour and Cora Walden Barbour.

Clarence married Dollie Belle Avant Haynie on March 15-16, 1959. She preceded him in death.

He married Frances Boswell in 2004.

He proudly served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Army, and after retiring from the Army he worked for the U.S. Government Civil Service at Fort Hood, Texas. He was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Lampasas.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Frances Boswell Barbour of Providence, N.C.; a daughter, Jane Haynie Barbour of Fredericksburg, Texas; stepdaughters Charlotte Haynie of Lampasas and Janet Gillispie of Danville, Va.; two stepsons, Ralph Thompson of Durham, N.C. and Phillip Thompson of Gibsonville, N.C.; and numerous grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and greatgreat-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by stepdaughter Sarah Garey, granddaughter Renee Rogers, grandson David Pratt and great-granddaughter Allison Carson.

A memorial service will be at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Lampasas on July 6 at 1 p.m.
