Chester F. “Chet” Bagby, 97, of Lampasas died Jan. 14, 2020 at AdventHealth Rollins Brook.
Funeral service will be Jan. 18 at 10 a.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
He was born March 1, 1922 in Blanco, the son of Peggy Carnelia (Wagoner) Bagby and Roy Alvin Bagby.
Chet married Billye Francys Weaver on July 4, 1942.
He was a pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion for 72 years and a member of Central Christian Church, where he served as chairman of the board for many years.
Chet worked for the U.S. Postal Service. He served as acting postmaster in Llano for a time and retired in 1980 as superintendent of operations for the Waco Sectional Center Postal Service.
He and Billye were instrumental in purchasing the church building on Broad Street for Central Christian Church, and he volunteered at Lampasas Mission.
He is survived by his daughter, Debby Bagby Campbell and husband Wallace; two grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren.
His wife preceded him in death in 2018.
