A memorial service will be held April 27 at 2 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas for Joe Anders. He died April 7, 2019.
Joe was born Jan. 27, 1933 in Colmar, Kentucky to Ruth Peace and Leory Anders.
He grew up in that region and in 1950 joined the Navy, where he served for five years. Most of his service was on the U.S. Navy Rhine River Patrol in Schierstein, Germany. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Navy Occupation Service Medal.
After his military service Joe went to work at IBM in Lexington, Kentucky as a machinist and subsequently transferred to Austin, where he worked in the New Products department and was responsible for locating components for building upcoming IBM products.
He married Glosena “Glo” Robbins in 1983.
In 1992, Joe retired from IBM after 35 years and in 2004 moved to Lampasas. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and puttering in the garden. He was a supporter of Friends of the Lampasas Animal Shelter.
Survivors include his wife, Glo Anders; sons Joe Anders Jr. and James Anders; three stepchildren, Jason Robbins, Noel Robbins and Kathy Burchfield; seven grandchildren, Leo Anders, Lisa Anders, Emily Robbins Zlatos, T.J. Robbins, Lloyd Robbins, Tom Burchfield and Alex Burchfield; and one greatgrandchild, Steven Zlatos.
Joe was preceded in death by three siblings, Harrold Anders, Ray Anders and Jean Anders Kilburn.
