The UIL announced it plans to keep 1A through 4A football on schedule this season, while Conferences 5A and 6A will have a roughly one-month-long delay in starting football, according to a schedule released today. The Badgers' schedule will be affected as their second opponent (Elgin) will not be allowed to start in time for the Sept. 4 match-up.
Lampasas head coach Troy Rogers said, "We are playing Stephenville there [Sept. 4] instead of Elgin. We also will not be able to have a first scrimmage, so our only scrimmage will be against Navasota at home on Aug. 21."
Rogers also said the district coaches would have a virtual meeting soon to discuss scenarios.
One of the Badgers' district opponents, Austin LBJ, and one non-district opponent, China Spring, are in counties where reopening has been postponed by local orders. It was unclear at press time if the Badgers still will play both of those teams.
