St. Mary Catholic Church’s Food Pantry will open April 3 from 1-3 p.m. to serve those in need.
Pre-packed bags of food will be given. Distribution will be made by no-contact drive-through to protect both the people served and the church volunteers. The food pantry is complying with all public health directives.
No appointment is needed.
Participants may come to the church parking lot at 701 N. Key Ave. in Lampasas and follow the instructions for lining up. People should remain in their vehicle at all times. Restrooms will not be available.
Food pantry volunteers will ask for the name, address and household size for each person served, and a volunteer will bring a bag to the vehicle.
At this time, no additional volunteers or product donations are being accepted so the church can limit the risk of exposure to the coronavirus.
Financial contributions are always welcome and can be sent to St. Mary’s Food Pantry, 701 N. Key Ave., Lampasas, TX 76550. These donations are used only to purchase products for the pantry.
Lampasas Mission Administrator Charlotte Holland said the Mission is continuing to offer food and other items, with some modificiations to meat health guidelines and orders.
The Mission is offering a drive-through around the building so clients are spaced apart from each other and from volunteers.
"If folks are walking, we are taking care of them also," Holland said. "We are handing out a pre-packaged bag of food, and everyone basically gets the same thing. We offer an extra box of food for folks over 60, also. We are taking new folks, as well. We are all trying very hard to keep in mind the social distancing and watch out for ourselves and each other."
