Late Thursday morning, Lampasas Fire Department and Kempner Volunteer Fire Department responded to a single-story residential structure fire at 805 West First Street in Lampasas. According to initial reports at press time, a man and a 3-year-old boy were in the house when the fire started, and they escaped without injury. Fire units reported to dispatch officers that the fire was extinguished as of 12:14 p.m. Lampasas Fire Marshal Ronnie Withers and Chris Ford of the State Fire Marshal's Office remained on scene Thursday afternoon to investigate the incident. 

The fire was determined to be accidental, Withers said. 

Lampasas Police Department and Acadian Ambulance Service also assisted at the scene.
