Corpus Christi Miller beat Lampasas 54-49 on Saturday in the area round of the football playoffs.

The Badgers (9-1) were eliminated with their only loss of the season but cut a 19-point fourth-quarter deficit down to five points.

Four-year starting quarterback Ace Whitehead finished with over 11,000 career passing yards and over 13,000 career total yards.

Jack Jerome, a third-year starting running back, ran for three touchdowns on Saturday. Whitehead scored twice on the ground and threw two touchdown passes to Ethan Moreno.

Lampasas' last offensive drive ended with a Buccaneer stop on 4th and 1 with less than a minute remaining.

A week before, the Badgers earned their third straight bi-district championship. LHS spent much of the season ranked No. 2 in Dave Campbell's Texas Football rankings, and had been as high as No. 1 in the Harris Ratings this season.
