Nearly a year after an accusation of wiretapping that led to her arrest, former Lometa police chief Melissa Cantu was acquitted of the felony charges on Oct. 28.  Cantu faced a trial by jury last Monday in the 27th District Court of Lampasas County, where defense attorney R.C.

Lometa Police Chief resigns

Third in a streak of sudden departures, Lometa Interim Police Chief Linda Mauldin issued her resignation late Friday evening. Mauldin said the decision was completely voluntary and not motivated by any impending firing.

New Lometa Police Chief resigns after personnel accusations

Newly hired Lometa Police Chief William Koch resigned Tuesday less than 24 hours after the Lometa City Council placed him on administrative leave following an investigation into alleged policy infractions. Koch had been sworn into office on Feb. 28.

Local election results released

Unofficial results for the May 4 local elections are in, showing a landslide win for Mickey Edwards in the race for Lampasas ISD Board. In the Lampasas ISD Board election, Mickey Edwards swept the vote with a total of 447 to Melinda Picott’s 81.
