Softball team ready for first-round playoff matchup

The Lady Badger softball team is set to take on Robinson in the bi-district round of the playoffs this week. The format will be a best-of-three series.

Lady Badgers struggle in district opener, heading home Tuesday night

The Lady Badger volleyball team traveled to Georgetown to play Gateway in the first district match of the season. Things did not go the way the girls wanted, and they fell 12-25, 7-25, 13-25. The stats leaders were Brylie Turner and Abbey Green with six kills each.

Badgers hitting the road for the first time this season

A Thursday game on the road, starting at 7 p.m., and played on a turf field are all new challenges the 2023 Lampasas Badger football team has not faced – until this week. At 3-0, the Badgers have had their best start to a season since 2020.

Badgers season comes to an end after close battle with Somerset

The Badgers struggled in the second half again Friday night in the bi-district round of the playoffs. They were unable to score and one second half touchdown by the Bulldogs was enough for them to secure a 27-17 win and punch their ticket to the second round.

Tough second half leads to loss for the Badgers

Turnovers and struggles in the second half allowed the Canyon Lake Hawks back into a game the Badgers dominated for large portions. The eventual 34-30 loss came when the Hawks scored the game winning touchdown with under a minute to go and the Badgers couldn’t answer.

Subvarsity teams improve their records with wins over Marble Falls

The freshman Badgers improved to 7-2 last week with a 34-14 win over Marble Falls. Calum Mitchell connected on touchdown passes to Shawn Roberts and KJ Reed in the first half, according to coach Chance Evans. In the second half, Mitchell went back to Roberts with another score through the air.

By outscoring the Marble Falls Mustangs 28-6 the Badgers moved to 3-1 in district play and all but guaranteed themselves a first round playoff game. The final score of Friday’s contest was 42-20. Read Tuesday’s edition of the Dispatch Record for the full story. 

Hard fought loss to Wimberley puts Badgers at 3-2 after non-district play

Three takeaways and a late onside kick recovery were not enough for the Badgers in their battle with the Wimberley Texans Friday night. They could not catch the 17-point second half lead for the Texans and moved to a 3-2 non-district record. The Badgers will start district play in Burnet on Oct. 7.

Badgers hold on to early lead for win over East View

The Badgers jumped out to an early 21-3 lead in the first half of Friday's game against Georgetown East View. The Patriots fought their way back into the game, but Lampasas never gave up the lead, eventually winning 48-39.
