Not guilty!

Nearly a year after an accusation of wiretapping that led to her arrest, former Lometa police chief Melissa Cantu was acquitted of the felony charges on Oct. 28.  Cantu faced a trial by jury last Monday in the 27th District Court of Lampasas County, where defense attorney R.C.

Lometa Police Chief resigns

Third in a streak of sudden departures, Lometa Interim Police Chief Linda Mauldin issued her resignation late Friday evening. Mauldin said the decision was completely voluntary and not motivated by any impending firing.

Local election results released

Unofficial results for the May 4 local elections are in, showing a landslide win for Mickey Edwards in the race for Lampasas ISD Board. In the Lampasas ISD Board election, Mickey Edwards swept the vote with a total of 447 to Melinda Picott’s 81.

Six vie for three Lometa at-large seats

Lometa voters will decide among six candidates for three at-large positions on the City Council. Early voting begins April 19, and the municipal election is May 1. Incumbents James Dickison and Marsha Laughlin filed to seek re-election.
