County to lift burn ban through Wednesday

Lampasas County Judge Randy Hoyer is temporarily lifting the current burn ban, effective immediately.  The burn ban was put in place back in April, due to drought concerns, as wildfires had begun spreading in different areas of Texas.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Lampasas County including the City of Kempner starting at 6 p.m. today. In an effort for the safety of city staff and residents Kempner Mayor John Wilkerson order for City Hall, located at 12288 U.S. Highway 190, through Monday.

City of Kempner to hold school supply drive Saturday

On Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Kempner City Hall, staff will be distributing over $2,000 in donated school supplies and toiletries to anyone who needs. City Manager David Williams said through a news release, the city is not requiring any income or address verification.

More roadway maintenance in Lampasas County

The Texas Department of Transportation Brownwood District will start its annual maintenance sealcoat project today and expected to be completed in the next several weeks.  TxDOT’s contractor, Brannon Paving Ltd., will start on U.S. 183 in Lampasas County this afternoon.
