New season begins for Lady Badger basketball

The Lady Badgers are looking to pick up more than 20 wins for the fourth straight year and make the playoffs for the fifth straight year, as basketball season is underway in Lampasas. The Lady Badgers have eight returning lettermen and two freshmen on the varsity roster.

Badgers lose heartbreaker to Canyon Lake

Lampasas came up short in a tough loss Friday night to the Canyon Lake Hawks in the second-to-last district football game of the season. The Badgers took their final lead in the game with 10:02 left in the fourth quarter, when Dylan Sanchez slammed through a Canyon Lake defender from one yard out.

Hornets fall in district championship game to Jonesboro; playoffs next

The Lometa Hornets were unable to come away with a district championship in their final regular-season game of the year against Jonesboro last Friday. The final score was 60-14. Lometa head coach D.T. Torres said the Hornets made way too many mistakes in a tough game against a good team.

Freshmen win, junior varsity lose in games against Canyon Lake

The Lampasas freshman and junior varsity teams split their games against Canyon Lake last Thursday. The freshman Badgers beat Canyon Lake 20-0. Reed Jerome scored two rushing touchdowns -- one from 58 yards out. Rylan Ross accounted for the third touchdown on a 7-yard run.

Canyon Lake will bring slot-T offense to Lampasas

The Badgers will face the Canyon Lake Hawks on Friday night as they push for the second spot in District 13-4A Division I. Canyon Lake will present a unique challenge for the Badgers with their slot-T style offense, which generates most of their yardage on the ground.

Standout athlete Ace Whitehead plays in first Texas baseball scrimmage

Ace Whitehead set records at Lampasas as a Badger quarterback and pitcher for four years. Now he is looking to make his mark in Austin with the Texas Longhorns. Whitehead played in the Horns’ first fall baseball scrimmage last Sunday against San Jacinto Junior College.

Runners compete at regionals

The Lampasas boys’ cross country team and a couple of Lady Badger runners ran in Lubbock on Monday at the regional meet and performed admirably. Abby Valdez finished 38th overall. She missed qualifying for the state meet by 12 places.
