Postponed by virus, Lometa opens season with loss to Irion County

    Irion County made a roughly 160-mile trek on short notice Tuesday to replace Santa Anna for Lometa’s season opener in boys’ basketball.

    Lometa’s 49-26 loss was “our first game, and it showed,” head coach Frank Reyes II said.

    Irion County, also named the Hornets, already had played several games in its season, including a win over 2A Ozona.
