May is the month when the city’s pools will open officially for the summer.
Dates and hours for the pools are as follows.
Hancock Springs Free-Flow Pool will open May 22 and stay available for swimmers through Sept. 7. Pool hours will be noon to 5 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays, and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
The Hanna Springs Swimming Pool will be open for the same dates and same hours.
Daily admission at either pool is free for children ages 0-3, $2.50 for ages 4-16, $3.50 for ages 17-54, and $2.50 for ages 55 and up.
A season pass is available for $60 for an individual, $55 for a senior citizen, and $125 for a family pass.
Summer programming will be offered at the municipal pools. The lap swim is $40 per month at each location, and it runs from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday and Friday, 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to noon on Sunday.
Water aerobics will be taught from 7-8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and swim lessons are available from 8-11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Water aerobics begins June 9, while lap swim starts on May 22.
After-hours rentals of the pools start at $75 an hour. Block party rentals start at $60 an hour.
