Ms. Wilson

Christine Asher Wilson, 100, died on Oct. 8, 2024, at Lampasas Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on June 20, 1924, in Lampasas, to Floyd Asher and Ellen Smith Asher.

Christine grew up in Lampasas and graduated from Lampasas High School in 1941. After high school, she attended Texas Woman’s University in Denton, where she received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in home economics and education.

After graduation, she taught home economics at Lampasas High School for many years.

After retiring from teaching, she enjoyed volunteering at Rollins Brook Hospital. She loved to sew and was an accomplished seamstress. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting and needlework.

Christine was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Lampasas, a life member of Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Lampasas County Retired Teachers Association.

Christine was preceded in death by her brother, G.W. Asher.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Lynn Wilson McBeth, and husband Paul of Morgan’s Point, Texas, and grandson, Brenton Corey McBeth of New York; and two nieces, Lazane Curry and Elaine Woodson of Gatesville, Texas.

Christine chose to be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.

Memorial donations can be made in her name to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church or the Lampasas County Retired Teachers Association.
