Mrs. Hobbs

Sharon Kay Goebel Hobbs, 74, died Jan. 19, 2026.

She was born on Nov. 13, 1951 in Fredericksburg to Clarence and Geraldine Goebel.

Sharon graduated from Lyndon B. Johnson High School in Johnson City, where she was an avid basketball player, participated in many school activities and earned the honor of Valedictorian of the Class of 1970. She was an accomplished pianist who loved music and singing.

After graduation, Sharon attended business school.

On Jan. 16, 1971, Sharon married the love of her life, Jerry Hobbs. Together they shared 55 years of marriage and were blessed with two sons, Jeffrey Hobbs, born in November 1975, and Russell Hobbs, born in January 1979. Her boys were truly the “apples of her eyes.”

Sharon dedicated many years of service to the State of Texas before working briefly at Walmart. She later joined First State Bank in Lampasas, where she remained until her final retirement. Throughout her life, Sharon faced numerous health challenges with strength and perseverance.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Hobbs; sons Jeffrey Hobbs and Russell Hobbs; Russell’s fiancée, Sarah R.; one grandson, Ryan Hobbs; sister Rhonda Goebel Rucker and husband Bill; brother-in-law Glen Wendell; niece Hailee Rucker; nephews Casey and Chris Wendell; along with many other cousins and family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother Bessie Goebel; sister Laura Wendell; and niece Bridget Rucker.

Services for Sharon will be held at a later date. Fulton Family Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
