Mrs. Cox

Linda Ann Cox died on July 15, 2025, in Lampasas.

Born on Sept. 11, 1946 in Burnet, Linda lived a life marked by her unwavering faith, love for family and commitment to serving others.

Linda graduated from Bertram High School in 1965, and shortly thereafter married Roy Don Cox on June 12, 1965. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage, creating a legacy of love and support for their children and extended family.

Throughout her life, Linda worked in various roles. She served as a teaching assistant at MHMR, a church secretary, a member of the newspaper staff and a dental assistant, yet her primary focus was always as a homemaker. Linda’s home was a sanctuary where love flourished. She welcomed not only her children but many who became “bonus children” under her nurturing care.

A Christian and lifelong member of the Church of Christ, Linda was known for her kindness and her unwavering faith. Her words and actions often echoed the wisdom found in Proverbs 31. Linda brought comfort to those around her during times of adversity, serving as a calm voice of reason and encouragement. With a servant’s heart, she volunteered at her church and at her children’s schools, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and community spirit.

She cherished the memories made on the family farm, spending afternoons with her parents and children, picking and shelling beans and shucking corn. These moments nurtured a deepseated connection to her roots and family traditions. She derived great joy from attending her grandchildren’s events and took immense pride in their accomplishments. She also cherished time spent with her high school classmates, finding joy in their shared experiences.

Linda leaves behind her husband, Roy Don Cox; children Lou Ann Taylor, Roger Cox, Richard Cox and Rory Cox; grandchildren Russell, Jesse, Lindsey, Michael, Cameron, Seth, Wade, Toryn, Spencer, Caden and Ethan; and greatgrandchildren Jael, Connor, Joshua and Juliette.

Linda was preceded in death by her father, Brack DeLeon; mother, Minnie DeLeon; sister, Dollie Florene Brown; and infant sister, Patsy Jean DeLeon.

A celebration of her life will be held at First Street Church of Christ on July 26 at 1:30 p.m. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.

Donations in Linda’s name may be made to Foundation School of Church Music, 7912 Tulane Dr., Rowlett, TX 75088.
