Earlene Kathy Champion died peacefully on Sept. 16, 2025. She was born on Dec. 19, 1960, to Alton Myers and Darlene Colble Myers.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Most everyone knew her as Earlene, some as Kathy, and to her grandchildren she was Meemaw.
Earlene grew up as a Lampasas native and was part of the Class of 1979. She went on to earn her degree in nursing as an LVN.
She worked at Rollins Brook Hospital in Lampasas, and eventually became Dr. Morris K. Patteson’s nurse. She later moved to Houston and worked for Cardiology Associates of Houston for 10 years.
After returning to Lampasas to be closer to family, Earlene continued her nursing career, touching the lives of many patients and their families.
Some of the things she loved were spending time with her kids and grandkids, going to the movies and events with her sister Sally Wagner, and cruising the town. She loved caring for her pets and never turned away anyone in need.
Around 2012, she found true love with her childhood friend Charles Champion, whom she later married.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Champion; her brother, Charles Myers; and her parents.
Survivors include her daughters Erica Joy Withers and husband David of Fairview, Oklahoma, and Amy Jo Reisinger and husband Kyle of Lampasas; brothers Jim Myers and wife Gail of Lometa, Douglas Lavender and wife Christy of Lampasas, and Randy Long and wife Kathy of Lampasas; grandchildren Amberlee, Kyla, Jacobi and Cooper; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial donations may be made to an animal shelter to honor her love of animals.
