Deborah Jean “Debbie” Blakley, 72, died on May 6, 2026.
Services will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on May 11 at 11 a.m., with visitation an hour prior. Burial will follow at Hillsdale Cemetery in Izoro.
Debbie was born to Tommy Eugene Harkey and Allie Vernette Jones Harkey on April 6, 1954, in San Saba.
She started her career with Guyco, where she took care of the payroll. After that, she went to work with Lampasas Independent School District, starting out in the cafeteria and working her way up to payroll specialist when she retired.
After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family and watching her grandkids. She was a natural caregiver and spent most of her time out on the ranch helping Jerry while he was baling hay all over the county.
She enjoyed sewing, cross-stitching, crocheting and anything involving crafts. Debbie made many blankets, dresses and various other items for co-workers and her family, and even learned how to make porcelain dolls. She was also an amazing cook and known for her pea salad, her fruit salad and her “no nana” banana pudding.
Debbie was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her parents, Tommy and Vernette; and her aunt, Lou Nell Harkey.
She is survived by her sons Randy Thorp and wife Joni, and Evan Blakley and wife Sarah; her sister, Connie Hartmann; her grandchildren, Isiah Thorp and wife Bethany, Chloe Thorp, Randon Thorp, Maya Blakley and Everett Blakley, and a great-granddaughter, Marianna Thorp.
