Ronald Eugene Hall was born in Mineral Wells on July 24, 1942, and he died after a brief illness in San Antonio on June 9, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack Walton Hall and Sallie Vera Roling Hall; siblings Doris Hall Garrison (husband Harold), Elizabeth Hall Traweek (husband Tra) and Catherine Hall Cruce (husband Clarence); brotherin- law Buddy Purcell; and nephews Trace Purcell and Lance Cruce.
After graduating from Mineral Wells High School, Ron attended Weatherford College and the University of North Texas, where he earned a BBA with a major in management. He received the award for Outstanding Management Student upon his graduation.
Ron served stateside during the Vietnam War and received glowing reviews from his commanding officers upon his discharge from the Army. His superiors cited his intelligence, unselfishness, devotion to duty, attention to details and morals above reproach.
After leaving the military, he embarked on a career in accounting in the oil and gas industry in San Antonio and later Houston, where he lived for many years.
He retired in Lampasas, where he worked on his antiques and collectibles business. Ron was active in his community, volunteering with several organizations including Texas Hill Country Trail, Preservation Lampasas, the Lampasas Art Club, Vision Lampasas and the Lampasas County Museum.
He loved to ski, created stained-glass artwork, painted landscapes of the Texas Hill Country, and enjoyed photography and playing the organ.
Ron is survived by siblings Mack Rhea Hall (wife Mitzi), Irene Hall Purcell and Cindy Hall Bonner, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held June 15, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Woodland Park Cemetery in Mineral Wells, with a lunch to follow.
Memorial donations may be made to the Sierra Club or the Nature Conservancy.
