Mr. Bocanegra

Cody Ray Bocanegra, 34, died on April 1, 2025, at AdventHealth Central Texas in Killeen.

Visitation was held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on April 7 from 6-8 p.m.

Services will be held at Lampasas Community Church on April 8 at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family asks that those who attend wear Cody’s favorite color, blue.

He was born on Oct. 24, 1990, in Austin to Ray and Kay (Turner) Bocanegra.

Cody grew up in Lampasas. He graduated from Lampasas High School in 2009. Throughout high school and after graduation, he spent many years working alongside family members in the different barbecue restaurants they owned.

He also spent over 13 years at AutoZone where for most of those years he was the store manager and received many rewards and recognition for his work.

Cody married Megan Blair in 2021 in Burnet. They were married for 3.5 years.

Cody was a member of Christ the Rock Church.

He was a craftsman who enjoyed working with his hands. He liked building and fixing an assortment of things, whether that was refurbishing furniture, helping build/remodel his 100-year-old house, working on vehicles or whipping something up in the kitchen. He liked baking, being outdoors, hiking, camping and fishing. He also loved country music and a good scary movie session.

Most of all, his joy came from being a husband and a father. He was a friend to many, loyal, with a heart of gold the size of Texas. During tragic times, Cody would donate resources to those in need as he did in 2017 after fires burned over 400,000 acres in the Texas Panhandle, and again several months later when Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas coast. He always wanted to help those in need whenever he had the chance.

Cody was preceded in death by his grandparents Eriberta and Antinastio Bocanegra, and Jimmy and Bobby Turner, and many cousins.

Cody is survived by his spouse Megan and their son Cohutta of Lampasas; his parents, Ray and Kay Bocanegra; brother Bronson Rogers and niece MaKenna Rogers; brother Brodi (Amanda) Bocanegra and niece Kashley Bocanegra and nephews Riggin and Rhett Bocanegra, all of Lampasas; and numerous other relatives.
